Interesting webinars coming up on ProScale and new use of forestry residues
This spring, you are invited to two webinars of large interest. Although they are widely different in focus, both have a clear connection to research fields within Mistra SafeChem.
Perspectives on textiles and chemicals from forestry residues
2060, our population will have increased by 25 percent and our main resource for textiles and chemicals will be depleted. The development of novel technology must take sustainability aspects into account, not only in production but also in resource allocation.
In this webinar, you will hear about how a residue that currently has a low value has been upgraded to textile yarn and chemicals or biofuels.
Date: Monday, April 24, 2023
Time: 12.00 – 13.00
Organizer: SUCCeSS (Stockholm University Center for Circular and Sustainable Systems)
ProScale: Accounting for toxicity in LCAs
ProScale is a life cycle-oriented method for assessing the toxicological potential of product systems. It provides a performance-based indicator that can be applied in various regulations, such as Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and Product Environmental Footprints (PEFs). The method is developed in collaboration with major chemical industries.
This webinar is aimed at professionals working in the field of life cycle assessment and risk assessment. Learn how to score the inherent toxicity of a product's ingredients, consider the exposure potential in each specific life cycle stage, and apply life cycle thinking from production to end-of-life.
Date: Friday, May 12, 2023
